The AQWA experience is a fascinating journey along Western Australia's incredible 12,000km coastline, internationally renowned for its unique ocean conditions and unrivalled diversity of marine life. It is the only place in Western Australia where you can come face to face with thousands of marine creatures, travel beneath three million litres of Indian Ocean waters without getting wet and interact with live animals in AQWA’s Touch Pool – all in one day!.
Everything in AQWA can be found in the State’s oceans and everything within the displays is living, including the coral. There are approximately 400 different species of marine life at AQWA including 8 different species of sharks The main aquarium at AQWA is called the ShipwreckCoast. It is 40 metres long, 20 metres wide and 4.5 metres deep and holds 3 million litres of seawater! The acrylic tunnel is 98 metres long. The water used for AQWA's exhibits is filtered directly from the Indian Oceanvia an intake line.
